Contemplative Teacher Training

The Center for Spiritual Imagination is developing a comprehensive training program for those who wish to teach contemplative prayer in the Christian tradition. This program is currently only available to members of the Community of the Incarnation (our new monastic community) but we expect to offer this training to qualified applicants outside the community beginning in Fall 2028. This training includes:

Courses on Contemplative Christianity

Study, conversation, and practice will take place weekly around topics such as the history of Christian monasticism and new monasticism, Christian contemplative and mystical theology, and contemporary spirituality.

Skill Building Workshops

Workshops and presentations on topics of Contemplative Leadership and Communication Skills, such as contemplative pedagogy, ethics in leadership, communication and conflict resolution, trauma informed practice, and more.

Practicums

Opportunities to lead retreats, courses, workshops, and meditations, including leading retreats at Codrington College in Barbados, Walker House in Garden City, NY, and Community of the Incarnation retreats. Students will receive valuable feedback from peers and teachers on their presentational skills, leadership style, communication agility and more.

Support for External Training

We will provide resources for students to attend approved workshops and trainings taught by organizations we trust, such as Ayni Institute, Center for Courage and Renewal, Center for Nonviolent Communication, Trauma-Sensitive Mindfulness Teacher Training, and others.
